A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Woodland Hills
Baptist Church, 2105 E Loop 281, in Longview. The Rev. Charles Hunt will officiate. The family
will receive friends at the church an hour before the service.
Cecil “Morris” Johnson, aged eighty-two years, passed away on July 24, 2017. Morris was born
on December 23, 1934 in Malvern, Arkansas. He was a long-time resident of Longview. He and
his wife, Evelyn Johnson, enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and two devoted sons, Steven and Kevin. Steven
and his wife, Lou Vonne, reside in Caldwell, Texas, and Kevin and Vickie in Longview. Morris
also has four loving grandchildren: Isaac, Audrey, Trevor, and Trent, and many cherished
relatives and friends. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jewell
Johnson, brother, Horace Johnson and sister Margaret Frances Hulen.
Morris Johnson was a graduate of Longview High and attended college in Tyler. He was
stationed around the world during eight years of active duty in the Air Force. Widely respected
for his business expertise and customer service, Mr. Johnson owned and managed Johnson
Service Center for fifty-three years.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Johnson enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was much loved for his
devotion to his Christian faith, was an ordained Baptist minister, and his passion was nursing
home preaching and jail ministry. Mr. Johnson was known for his dedication to his family, his
church, community service and exuberance for life. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after
a two-week hospitalization as the result of a stroke.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to the Woodland Hills Baptist Church
building fund.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the
