Jerry B. Meeks, 85, of Gladewater, Texas, and formally of Leesville, Louisiana, died Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born February 13, 1939 to his parents J.B. and Lula Mae Meek in Humble, Texas. Jerry spent time in the Navy and another 21 years in the Army, serving two tours in Vietnam as a Combat Medic, and earning the name of 'Doc Holiday' by his fellow military assistance team. He retired in Leesville, LA in 1977 and would continue to live there for most of his adult life. Jerry later pursued his passion of cars, and he and Erika opened J & E Auto Service. His hobbies included dirt track auto racing, attending antique auto shows, and playing bingo.
Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Brigitte Meeks Moreau (Keaven) of Fayetteville, TN., Nancy Meeks McCallum (Doug) of Burke, VA; his five grandchildren, Sarah McCallum Rotbart (Sean) of Annandale, VA; Sylvia McCallum Bateman of Plano, TX, Makenzie B. Moreau of Toney, AL., Madison Moreau of Toney, AL., and Mason H. McCallum of Burke, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Noah Rotbart, Levi Rotbart, and Grace Rotbart of Annandale, VA., and Callum, Corrie, Carolina, and Cicily of Plano, TX. His former spouses, Erika S. Meeks and June Meeks preceded him in death.
Jerry will be remembered for service to his country and war, his incredible talent and work ethic, and being a protective father and loving grandfather.
