Billie Pliler Simpson age 93, of Marshall, Texas went home to be with the Lord, family and friends who have preceded him in death on December 25, 2018. He was born on October 16, 1925, in Longview, Texas to Herman and Ottie Pliler Simpson.
Billie was a World War II US Army Veteran. He served his country from April 18, 1945, till December 1, 1946, as a Corporal assigned as a squad leader of Army occupation troops in Japan. Both before and after the war Billie worked for Coca Cola; then he became a successful home builder in later years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Spradlin Simpson; his children, George "Lynn" Simpson (Lynna); Linda Simpson James (Ted); Billy "Martin" Simpson; David Deryl Simpson; his grandchildren, Susan Simpson, Michelle Simpson Janosek, Seth James, Jennifer Simpson Capps, Billy Simpson; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Melba Simpson Curry; many nieces and nephews; and Mary Haynes, Pop's special girl.
Preceding him in death were his father, Herman Lynn Simpson; mother, Ottie Pliler Simpson, son, Billie P. Simpson Jr.; and his children's mother, Mary Simpson Rushing.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 10:00 A.M. till 11:00 A.M. at East Texas Funeral Home in Longview, Texas located at 6522 McCann Road. A graveside service will follow visitation at Gum Springs Cemetery at 11:30 A.M.
