Bobby Wayne Thorn

February 5, 1937 ~ May 14, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Bobby (Bob) Wayne Thorn, 80, of Ore City, TX passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at his home.  Bob was born February 5, 1937 in Lindale, TX to Clarence and Gladys Thorn.  Bob lived his childhood in Lindale, but found work picking cotton in Chillicothe, TX. That’s where he found his girl.  Barbara Hope Kelso worked at the local café where the cotton pickers frequented. When they met, Bob knew he couldn’t take the 14 year-old with him, so he vowed to return in two years to get what was his. That was the fall of 1954.  He kept his word walking back in that café in late summer 1956. On October 5, 1956, he married his girl, and their love story continued for a 60-year marriage.  Bob worked in HVAC for 10 years before finding his career with electrical high lining. Bob was a respected foreman from 1965 to retiring in 2004 from Trinity Utility Services.
Bob was proud of his son and three beautiful daughters. Bob was away from home a lot, mostly only seeing his family every other weekend. It never strained the relationship of his special family. Bob taught his children to work hard, be respectful, ethics, and to always have honor no matter what. He was very proud of how they all turned out.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Thorn; brother, Billy Harrel Thorn; sister, Elizabeth Vanita Wells; grandson, Bobby Wane Cates, 1989; son-in-law, Robert Mark George, 2013; granddaughter, Sofia Meletha George, 2014; daughter, Meletha Diane Mabry, 2016.
He is survived by his children:  David Wayne and Sharon Thorn, Boyd, TX ; Laney George, Las Colinas, TX ; Bobbie Jean and Scott Smith, Italy, TX ; grandchildren:  Murray Kade Martin, Graham, TX ; Morgan Jade Martin, Graham, TX; Jessaca Hope Smith;  Ennis, TX ; Kameron Blake Smith, Rowlett, TX ; Tiffanie Rochelle Smith, Ennis, TX ; Nadia Hope Ray, Chelsea, AL; Sasha Jean George, Houston, TX ; Nathan Wayne George, Munster, TX; Mia Fae George, Las Colinas, TX ; great-grandchildren:  Kason, Brodie, Bryce, Bentleigh, Layton, Bostyn, McKinley, Dominique.
