Perry Pettit Obituary

Perry F. Pettit, age 68, passed away in Longview, Texas, on May 22, 2019 from a tree accident. Mr. Pettit was assisting in a clean-up, trimming of damaged trees in East Longview caused by the violent windstorms in mid May. He was pronounced dead on the scene by local Justice of the peace. His death was determined to be accidental. He was a former Longview resident and Longview High School graduate. 

Mr. Pettit was an Army Veteran serving as Radioman and Company Clerk in Viet Nam and Korea. 

Before making a home in New Hope, he lived in Dallas where he worked as a Steelworker and Laborer. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Gail Pettit, father Benjamin F. (Pinky) Pettit, mother Peggye L. Ramey, grandmother Bertie Evans McGee. and by several aunts and uncles. He had no children.

He is survived by Aunts Helen Mercer, Kay A. Evans of Longview. Patrcia Evans Arthur, Uncle Jerry D. Evans of Longview, cousins Linda Pennington, Barbara Evans, Richard Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Carol A. Mitchell, Penny Rutledge, Debbie Dellinger Hollis, Ken Arthur, Kelly Harthun, Karyn Douglas, Kim Soderquist, Susan K. Demiglio, David Evans, Jerry J. Evans, Laura Anne Lee, Tommy Mercer, Robert N. Cohen, Jackie J. Faughn and numerous second cousins. He attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church and was leader in the Children's Ministry, and a faithful servant to the homeless in the Jesus Burger Ministry.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 11:00 A.M. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 4239 CR 284, East Kilgore, Texas. Visitation will held one hour prior to the start of the service.
