Betty Lou Chandler Lee, age 86, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at her home in Hallsville, Texas. Betty was born in Bennington Oklahoma on October 30th, 1937. She was born on a farm to a family of thirteen children, ten of which survived to adulthood. Growing up on a farm, she developed a strong work ethic and tenacity that stayed with her throughout her life. Being part of such a large family resulted in a lot of love and mischief between her brothers and sisters. She had a special place in her heart for her siblings.
She graduated top of her class at Bennington High School. Then eventually settled in Longview, Texas with her husband, Elbert Lee. Together they worked on building houses and raising a family until his passing. Betty loved anything related to games, whether it be cards, game shows, or even special trips to the casino in Shreveport. She also loved the simple things in life, from gardening, to fishing, to watching sports. She never missed an opportunity to send someone a card and let them know that she was thinking of them, something everyone will dearly miss. She will be remembered for setting the bar high on what it meant to work hard, play hard, and always provide for her children.
She is preceded in death by her husband Elbert Lee; parents, Adell F. Chandler and Ola Mae Chandler; son-in-law George Pearson; son-in-law James Henry Woolard; grandson Kenneth Wayne Pearson; and eleven of her brothers and sisters.
Those left to remember her include her daughter, Renetta Pearson; daughter Rebecca Woolard; and son Glynn Lee and his partner Sondra Webb. Grandchildren Kandice Scott, Justin Stafford, James Adell Woolard, and Allie Woolard. And three great-grandchildren, Symantha Scott and Christopher "CJ" Scott, and Julia Woolard. Along with her last surviving sibling, Barbara Brackett.
"Run to the round room, they can't corner you there. Cheerio." - Betty Lee
