Daniel Larsen Obituary

Daniel Harvey Larsen was called home to glory Resurrection Morning, March 31, 2024, shortly after a cancer diagnosis. He was 84.
Dan was born August 5, 1939, in Brookings, South Dakota to parents, Lester and Elaine Larsen.
He spent much of his youth around the Nebraska Tractor Testing Lab, where he developed both a love and a skill for fixing things that would keep him busy his whole life.
It was also in Nebraska that Dan accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, starting a faith that would direct his life and touch countless others for decades.
After graduating high school, Dan studied at the University of Nebraska for a year before marrying his sweetheart, Nonie, and joining the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Omaha's Strategic Air Command and later Brize Norton, England for three and a half years.
After serving his country, Dan completed his degree at LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas, and went to work for Volkswagen in San Antonio - becoming a lifelong VW man.
Dan then returned to LeTourneau - this time as a professor. He taught mechanical technology and engineering.
From Texas, Dan and Nonie moved to North Carolina, where Dan served as an instructor at the Master's Mission for 24 years. He taught students from all over the world, built vehicles for the rugged terrains of Africa and maintained equipment from cars to bulldozers.
Retirement didn't slow Dan down. He drove a bus for LeTourneau until just weeks before his death, happily carrying aviation students back and forth to the airport and sports teams all over the region for games and events. He also volunteered at Tech Advantage, an organization that supports global missionaries.
Dan was humble and tender-hearted. He'd get misty-eyed at large family gatherings and during prayer. He had an eternal perspective to the very end.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nonie; his two sons, Lester (Sylvia) Larsen, Robert (Elaine) Larsen; six grandchildren, Daniel (Brittani) Larsen, David (Sarah) Larsen, Grace Larsen, Jeannette (Kyle) Harvey, Robin (Justin) Boggs, Robert "Bo" (Taylor) Larsen, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three loving sisters, Marie Gregg, Amy Martin, and Linda (Alfonso) Torres, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The Larsen family would like to acknowledge and thank Dan's caregivers at Summer Meadows, as well as their church family at Fellowship Bible Longview for their steadfast love and support.
Those who knew and loved Dan are invited to a public service to celebrate his life 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at Fellowship Bible Church, 4600 McCann Rd, Longview, TX.
