David Wayne Phillips

David Wayne Phillips passed away early September 1, 2025, leaving behind his wife, Patricia (of Longview); son, David Alan Phillips from a previous marriage to C. Jeanette Rowe Phillips both also residing in Longview, TX; a daughter, Shelly Lynn Phillips (residing in the North Texas area); aunt, Mary Nell Riegel (of Bossier City, LA); step-children, Jonathon Mason and Stephanie Hardwick and their families; plus many friends. He was a resident of Longview, TX since 1976.

He attended Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Longview. He was born in Shreveport, LA on January 26, 1944, to Virginia Buchanan Phillips who preceeded him in death when David Wayne was in his teens. He graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport while living with his grandparents there. He worked as a new car prep technician for many years before becoming self-employed as an automotive electrical technician and later with several new and used car dealerships in East Texas.

Some of his favorite activities included spending time with his family, fishing, bowling, and being a track official at several local dirt tracks in the area. He worked with Little League, Cub Scouts and like to work with teenagers in his church when he was younger.
