Dorothy was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on April 20, 1951 and passed from this life on October 17, 2021 in Longview, Texas.
Parents Cecil Ray and Willie Belle Dilbeck Huddleston preceded her in death in 1952. Mary and Bill Portman became the legal guardians of Dorothy and her brothers, Billy Dean and Walter Ray Huddleston. They were raised in Durant, Oklahoma.
Surviving Dorothy are her son, Rodney and wife Brittanie Womble, one grandson Carter Womble, brother Walter Ray Huddleston, three children by love, Chris Henson, Todd Henson, and Carey Roberts. Nine more grandchildren who were lucky enough to call her Granny D. Also surviving is life partner of 24 years Vanessa Henson.
Dorothy’s friends and family know of her love of cooking, camping, traveling and supporting the University of Oklahoma. She was an avid fan of all sports, but OU football and softball were her favorites.
Dorothy and Vanessa loved working together as owners and operators of A Cut Above Lawn Service for 20 years. After hurricane Harvey took their home and business in Port Aransas, Texas they decided to volunteer as hosts at Texas state parks. Lake Bob Sandlin State Park and Atlanta State Park kept them busy for 4 wonderful years.
Family and friends will gather to spread Dorothy’s ashes on Lake Texoma soon.
Cremation service was provided by East Texas Funeral Home in Longview, Texas.
