After graduating from Grand Prairie Highschool and brief employment at the naval base in Grand Prairie, he was employed with the Grand Prairie School District. After 30 years of service with the district he retired and moved to East Texas to care for his ailing father.
He was an avid outdoorsman with a particular love for fishing. He exemplified the term 'Gentle Giant' and never met a stranger and was a friend to all. A kind, caring man with a love for helping others lead him to volunteer at the Longview Dream Center for the past five years.
