Elizabeth Copeland Obituary

Elizabeth "Becky" Edwards Copeland, a kind and gentle spirit who lived a life defined by love and devotion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at her home in the care of hospice. She was 72. Becky faced her final days with the same remarkable bravery and smiling face she exhibited throughout her life, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 10, 1953, in Gladewater, Texas, Becky was the daughter of the late Curtis Winford Edwards and Erbal Mae Brooks. She grew up in Kilgore, where she would dedicate her entire 32-year career to the Kilgore Independent School District, serving as a special education staff member and later as the devoted secretary for the 4th and 5th grades. She was known by countless students and colleagues for her patient nature and warm, happy demeanor.
Music was central to Becky's life. She began playing the piano for her church at the remarkable age of 10. This enduring passion led her to play for a local group that performs at various nursing homes, bringing joy and comfort to others. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a longtime, active member of Forest Home Baptist Church. Above all, Becky cherished her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with them and being a devoted grandmother. She was happily married to her husband, Don Copeland, for 53 years. She truly "lived love," and her kindness and joyful presence will be the lasting legacy her family and friends hold in their hearts.
Becky was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Curtis and Erbal.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Don Copeland; her loving sons, Sam (Myra) Copeland of Kilgore and Clay (Calley) Copeland of Seattle; and her three cherished grandchildren, Jay Curtis, Cannon, and Rylan.
A memorial service to celebrate Becky's life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Forest Home Baptist Church, 15746 County Rd 173 N, Kilgore, TX 75662

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or online at cancer.org <https://www.cancer.org/>).
