Georgia Louise (Madison) Olmstead, 87, passed away at home March 9, 2026 in Gilmer, TX. Georgia was born September 25, 1938 in Monterey, CA to William Frank Madison and Ruth Geraldine (Reams) Madison. She graduated from Pacific Grove High School in Pacific Grove, CA. Georgia married Frederick Law Olmstead, from Boise, ID, on February 4, 1963 in Reno, NV. After 40 years in Arlington, VA they moved to Longmont, CO to reside with their younger daughter. Frederick passed in Longmont, CO in 2014. Georgia had worked as a telephone operator, as civilian support at Fort Meade, at Woodward and Lothrop, and at SAIC. Georgia enjoyed rock hounding, reading, bird watching, gardening, crochet, painting, photography, resin art, traveling, singing, riding horses and attending rodeo events. Georgia is survived by daughters Carol Michelle Olmstead of Gilmer and Stephanie Jeanne Olmstead-Dean (Gordon) of Hagerstown, MD, and a brother William Frank Madison Jr. of Sutherlin, OR. No services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Quarter Horse Association, Stock Horse of Texas, or the Gladewater Rodeo. Cremation services were provided by East Texas Funeral Home.
