James Cannon of Gladewater, Texas was born January 4, 1946, and passed peacefully on January 6, 2025, with his family surrounding him.
He was born in Loraine, Texas, to Homer and Ruby (Mitchell) Cannon. James gave his life to Jesus and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in Colorado City at the age of 12. He attended schools in Colorado ISD. He was a worker by nature and grew up working in his dad's gas station as well as for Hudson and Sparks until he was hired by Missouri and Pacific Railroad. After being injured he spent his time working on his farm, fishing and hunting with his kids. He loved to play 42 and have a good long conversation. He was a jack of all trades and an all-around mechanic. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed making memories with them by teaching them different trades.
He is survived by his wife Kitty Cannon of 45 yrs of Gladewater Tx, his son Clayton (Jeran) Cannon of Colorado city, son Spencer Cannon of Colorado City, daughter Linda Cisneros (John) of Houston, Tx, daughter Tabitha Vaughn (Bubba) of Gladewater, son Heath Cannon of Gilmer. Grandchildren, Brittany Cannon, Brooke Cannon, Hayley Byrom, Jade (Nick) Williams, Colton Cannon, Phoenix Robinson, Asphen Cannon, Katelyn Vaughn, Daytona Vaughn, Clayton Vaughn, Alaya Vaughn, Ledger Cannon, Jentry Cannon and Alyssa Cannon . Great Grandchildren, Gracelyn Cannon, Berkli Higgins, CJ Cannon, Kane Purlee, and Mason Cannon.
James is also survived by brother His Brother Ken Cannon (Mary Ann) of Colleyville, Tx, and sister Dana Caldwell of
Odessa and numerous nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his son James Edward Cannon, his parents; Homer and Ruby Cannon, a brother Jerry Cannon, and his sisters Shirley Davis and Kathy (Kate) Matlock.
Services for James will be January 13th at East Mountain Baptist Church Visitation will start at 1 and service at 2pm. Under the direction of East Texas Funeral Home.
