James Weldon Taylor

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James W Taylor on January 2nd, 2025, in Longview, Texas. James W Taylor was born in September of 1932, in Morton, Texas. He retired from the US Air Force, where he earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He is survived by his son James Taylor II (wife Gabrielle Taylor), his daughter Rachel Chesney (husband Jerry Chesney), grandchildren - Taylor Edwards (husband Jeffery Edwards), Allie Pope (husband Eric Pope), Christian Taylor, Collin Taylor, great-grandchildren - Chloe Edwards, Javin Edwards, Kiara Edwards, Cub Pope, Eva Pope, children of his heart - Jennice Daniels (husband - Jon Daniels), grandson - Andrew Zellars, great-granddaughter - Emma Zellars. He was preceded in death by our mom, Marjorie Taylor - wife, Carol Taylor - wife, his daughter Theresa Eversole, and Vance Eversole - son-in-law. Funeral services will be held at the National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas in the Spring so that all our family can join us. We will make an announcement when the date has been decided and we welcome you to share in the services with us where he will receive full honors for his service to his country.

Our dad was very well known for his quick wit and one liners, his response to "See you tomorrow" was always "I'll be here if I'm not someplace else." This time he won't be outside sitting in the sun like he loved to do, or out getting into trouble on his scooter. This time when we see him again he will be someplace else and he'll be whole again and reunited with those gone before him.
