Jerry was born in Nacogdoches, Texas to Lloyd George Pulsipher and Geneva H. Hogan. on March 16, 1945. He passed away on November 26, 2018, in Kilgore, Texas. Jerry was a ‘born again believer’ in Jesus Christ and would share that faith with others.
An avid hunter, Jerry would travel to Chama, NM and the Molas Pass area of Colorado to pack in on horseback to get elk meat for the freezer as attested to by his many elk mounts. He would pack in alone with just his horses and a good rifle. Hunting the big one, he loved nature. Jerry hunted all over West Texas for White Tail Deer - Llano, Junction.
Jerry loved to fly his airplanes; and as he would say, let’s go “get some yonder.” He was a flight instructor and carried a commercial pilot’s license. He dearly loved his planes and flying.
One of Jerry’s favorite places was New Camp Chireno, the home of Chireno Trail and Hunt Club. Jerry loved horses and especially loved to ride in the deep woods all over Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Colorado. Cloud Croft held a special place in Jerry’s heart.
Jerry was the previous owner of Ace of Pawn in Gladewater for about 10 years. He had a Federal Firearms License and could be seen at the front table of all the local gun shows. He enjoyed visiting with anyone about guns. He could tell you the history and approximate value of most any gun made.
Jerry and Roxy, his beloved boxer dog, were inseparable. He thought she hung the moon. When Jerry was in the hospital for his extended stay, we would bring Roxy in to visit. Roxy always behaved herself perfectly, and she helped Jerry get through his long ordeal.
Jerry enjoyed singing and had a beautiful voice. Gospel music was his choice. He would ask everyone, “do you know, Uncloudy Day”? He wasn’t shy about singing it either.
Jerry is survived by a daughter, Patty Jean Schmidt and grandchildren, Karl, Josef and Kathleen; two sisters, Marye Jones of Nacogdoches and Betty and husband, Will Christian of Pollok; nephew and wife, Tommy and Christy Christian of Idaho Falls, ID; nieces, Lisa Lyons and husband, Steve; Kimberly Greer and Jenny Watts; special friend, Katie Kilpatrick; special caregiver, Julie Bingham; caregivers, Courtney Bingham and Marie Minnix. A brother, Thomas Lloyd (Little Tommy), preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 6:00 P.M. at East Texas Funeral Home located at 6522 North McCann Road in Longview.
