Judy Ellis Burns, 82, of Kilgore, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024.
Judy Ellis Burns was born February 16, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. She was the only child of Rex Manning Ellis and Allene Miller Ellis.
She attended University of North Texas in Denton, Texas where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Thayer Burns on August 9, 1963. After 8 years of wonderful marriage, they began their family when Jason Thayer Burns was born and 5 years later, Ashley Leigh Burns Johns was born.
Judy was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family. Whether that was assisting her husband in running their Apparel business for almost 40 years or supporting and participating as the team mom or chaperone through the years of her children's lives. She was loved by everyone who met her for her strong yet sweet and positive personality. Her family often compared her to 'Pollyanna' as she always found the silver lining or the good in every situation.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thayer Burns, her parents, Rex Manning Ellis and Allene Miller Ellis and daughter-in-law, Melissa Bass Burns.
She is survived by her children, Jason Thayer Burns and Ashley Burns Johns and husband, Darrell and grandchildren, Emma Rae Collins, Christiana Moreland-Burns and Dillan Thayer Johns.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S Eastland St, Iredell, TX 76649.
