Kenneth Belcher Jr. “Mr. B.” passed away on April 22, 2021 at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family. His battle with complications from a stroke suffered in February showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Ken came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
He was born to his parents Kenneth Sr. and Elsie Belcher, on July 12, 1937 in his childhood home in Branchville, NJ. He served his country proudly as a cook in the Army. Ken was a kind and gentle human being. He met the love of his life, Carole and they spent the next 50 years working hard together and raising their two children Sarah and Diane. Ken and Carole served the Branchville community for 18+ years as owners of Belcher’s Village Market. Ken also loved everything about the outdoors. He was always busy taking care of his lawn, trimming hedges, weeding gardens and being the “blower man”. He especially loved hitting a golf ball straight down the fairway with his golfing buddies Allen, Dennis and Jim. He was a man of not too many words but always had a funny wisecracking remark to add to the conversation.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother’s, Douglas, Larry, and Howard; sister, Gladys; and good friend Tom Degroat.
He leaves behind his wife Carole; daughters/spouses Sarah and April Lilly and Diane and Richard Wittrien; son Doug; sister Kay and Ronald Meyer; grandchildren; Jessica, Alex, Sarah, Richie, Emma; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
A celebration of his life is scheduled for Friday, April 30th at 110 New Braunfels Lane Hallsville TX, from 4-6. Feel free to stop by, visit and witness a tree being planted in his memory. A second celebration, tentatively scheduled for the middle of June is being planned for his New Jersey family and friends.
