Kenneth Ray Sewell, 84, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, in Longview, Texas.
He was born on May 4, 1940, in Angus, Texas to Acie B Sewell and Cleo King Sewell.
He is preceded in death by his wife Paulette Gail Posey Sewell and two of his siblings, Bobby Sewell (Charlene) and Judy Williams (Morris).
He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Spraggins (Tony) and one son, Michael Sewell; siblings: Jane Latham (James) of Kilgore and Michael Whitehead (Paula) of Colorado. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren with two more on the way. To them he was lovingly known as "Poppy."
Kenneth was a diesel mechanic for large trucks most of his life but when he became the owner of Sewell Automotive in Fort Worth, he worked on most types of cars and trucks. He then relocated his business to Henderson, Texas. After that he worked for S&K Supply in Kilgore where he built diesel engines.
One of his favorite things to do was sing. He especially loved singing gospel songs and songs of praise. He attended Living Word Church in Kilgore where he sang as often as he could. Even when dementia took most other things from him, he still loved singing.
There will be a memorial service at Living Word Church in Kilgore on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10 a.m.
