Larry Allen Merritt, 77, of Longview, Texas, passed away on September 18, 2025. He was born on October 20, 1947, in Galveston, Texas.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Minerva Merritt; his daughter, Vanessa Swalley, and her husband, Jeremy Swalley; and his cherished grandchildren, Jett Swalley and Levi Swalley. He is also survived by his brother, Greg Merritt, along with many dear friends who will miss him greatly.
In his working years, Larry was a skilled wallpaper hanger and also enjoyed driving a school bus before an accident changed the course of his life. Despite being paralyzed, he faced life with humor, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Larry found true joy in his ministry as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he faithfully served alongside his spiritual family at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Longview. His humor, kindness, and steadfast spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Longview, Texas, with details to be announced.
Larry's life was a testament to enduring faith, love for his family, and joy in serving Jehovah. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
