Larry Alfred Wilkerson

Services for Larry Wilkerson, 79, of Beckville will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, TX, with Jay Shepherd officiating. Larry passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.

A lifetime resident of the area, Larry was born September 11, 1942, in Longview, TX to Lee and Mildred Wilkerson. Larry graduated from Tatum High School in 1961. He served his country in the United States Air Force and did tours in Vietnam and the Philippines. After leaving the military, he was the first in his family to graduate college and received a marketing degree from Louisiana Tech University. He was ambitious, driven and worked hard to fulfill the American dream. He owned and operated Heritage Business Machines in Longview for 30 years. He adored his children and was the definition of unconditional love. He was an avid movie lover and as he said, “a sucker for a good love story”. He was lucky enough to have loved multiple times in life. In 1963 he married Linda Smith and they shared 19 years together and three children. Larry was always open about his journey with the Lord and loved to share his testimony and redemption story. He then married Cindy Callahan and had two more children. They were married for 28 years until her death in 2014. His love story was not over and in 2019 he married Joyce Hornsby. They spent two wonderful years together and their story ended much too soon. He was a faithful member of Mobberly Baptist Church for over 35 years and was active in the prison ministry at Gregg County Jail. Most importantly, Larry was a humble and mighty servant of the Lord with a passion to lead every person he met to a life changing, ever growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Wilkerson; brother Rodney Wilkerson; wife Cindy Wilkerson and her son Mickey Hays. Larry is survived by his wife, Joyce Wilkerson of Beckville; children, Lila Wilkerson of Keithville; Lance Wilkerson of Shreveport; Lane Wilkerson of Midland; Jared Wilkerson and wife Crystal of Longview; Erika Moore and husband Jonathan of Longview; Josh Bynum of Beckville; Jason and Kandace Bynum of Beckville; grandsons Aric, Luke, Mickey, Colt, Joseph, Brayden, and Dylan; granddaughters Torri, Julie, Naomi, Molly, Macy, and Olive.

The family requests memorials be made to Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75605.
