Lorenzo Cardona Obituary

Lorenzo G. Cardona, age 84, cast his line into the ocean of heaven peacefully on December 1, 2025. He was born on September 5, 1941, in Wharton, Texas, to Augustin and Virgilia (Guerra) Cardona.

Lorenzo loved fishing, watching classic westerns—John Wayne was among his favorite actors—spending time with his faithful dogs, and savoring the delicious meals prepared by his daughter-in-law, Andrea. Dad loved to always be out fishing or just having animals (horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, deer, and many others) around for us as kids. He used to BBQ and cook the seafood he caught. One of my memories is of him offering us squid with eggs—we decided that one wasn’t for us, but he ate it all himself. He was always joking around and making others laugh, but mostly he loved to rub any of the kids’ earlobes. It’s funny when even your cousins remember how we would all duck before he could rub our earlobes, though some of the others loved it. It was even funnier to see that the grandchildren didn’t get away from it either.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Andrea Fairchild (wife of his late son, Allen J. Cardona); his daughter and son-in-law, Guadalupe Kay and Rey Garza; his son and daughter-in-law, Lorenzo Jr. and Elizabeth Cardona; grandchildren James, Heather, Paul, Alex, Cristian, and Liam; great-grandchildren Maya and Marlene (children of James), Daimian and Charlie (children of Heather), Logan and Cole (children of Paul); bonus great-grandchildren Michael and Mikayla (children of James); and his siblings Mary, Lupe, Victoria, and Tino.

The family will gather for a small intimate farewell to celebrate Lorenzo’s life, which will include the ocean he loved so dearly.
