Melvin Louis Quick

Melvin L. Quick went home to be with his Lord and Savior September 3, 2024 after battling cancer for several months at Christus Good Shepherd hospital in Longview, Texas. Melvin was born December 28, 1952 in Grand Island Nebraska, the son of Robert E. and Margaret E. Quick.
After graduating from S. R. Butler high school, Huntsville, Alabama in 1972 Mel enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country from February 1973 to August 1993. Mel achieved the rank of master sergeant (E-7). His service time included three years in support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm from August 1990 to August 1993.
Mel was married to his love, Candelaria C. Quick and they celebrated 12 years of marriage on February 14, 2024. Melvin was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church, Longview, Texas and served many years as a treasurer.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents and survived by his loving wife, Candelaria; Brother Robert Quick and wife Elaine of Huntsville, Alabama ; Sister Norma Quick Valentine and her husband Clifton of Roseville, Tennessee; Sister Barbara Quick of Huntsville, Alabama; Son David Quick of Littleton, Colorado; Daughter Melanie Quick Baldwin and her husband Nathaniel of Crawfordsville, Indiana; grandchildren Evan, and Lily Baldwin; and four nieces Amy, Nicole, Lindsy, and Jennifer .
A Memorial service will be held on September 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Community Center, 1 Moore Farm Circle, Huntsville, Alabama 35806.
A second memorial service will be held October 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church, 2500 Gilmer Rd., Longview, Texas 75604.
