Olen Andrew Rivers

Olen Andrew Rivers passed from this life in Longview, Texas, at the age of 83 on June 7, 2019.  Olen's life will be celebrated in a memorial service at the Camille Acres Baptist Church, 2920 Gilmer Rd. Longview, Texas at 11am Saturday, June 15, 2019, with Bro Thomas Ayres and Bro Joe McGraw officiating.  A native of Turkey, Texas, Olen was born on April 20, 1936, to Rufus and Willie Rivers.  He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Len Dewayne Rivers, three brothers; Donald, Jerry and Billy Rivers, sister Cleta McClestky. Olen is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judith (Judy) Rivers.  He is also survived by one grandson, Joshua Wayne Rivers, and three great grandchildren; Rose, Delilah and Adrian; daughter-in-law Sharon Rivers, and her children Sarah, Justin; Cory and wife. Two brothers; Leroy and wife Ann, and Jackie Rivers, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. 

Olen was a Missionary Baptist Minister and pastored eight different churches, all in Texas.  The longest being 24 years with New Salem Baptist Church, in the New Salem Community. The last was Old Center Baptist near Carthage, Texas.  Olen served our country two years in the Army, and spent half of that time in Korea.
