On Thursday, December 24, 2020, Richard Douglas Budd, 70 years of age, passed away in his home with his devoted and loving wife by his side. After a long battle of suffering from diabetes and Parkinson's disease, Richard can finally rest in peace and suffer no more.
On December 16, 1950, Richard was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, at the U.S. Naval Hospital to Richard Edgar Budd and Doris Evelyn Safford Budd. Richard graduated from Richard Montgomery High School, Rockville, Maryland, in 1969. He was soon after drafted to the Vietnam War.
Richard was baptized in 1972 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and devoted his life to the ministry and studying the Bible.
Richard moved to Los Angeles, California, shortly after returning from Vietnam, where he met Marjorie, the love of his life, and was wed on January 19, 1974. He was an advocate reader and had a great passion for music as well as collecting books and music. His favorite band of all time was the Beatles. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and creating fond memories. He also loved animals, especially dogs.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Edgar Budd, and his granddaughter, Romona Lakeisha Parker.
In Jehovah’s loving care, he leaves his devoted wife of 47 years, Marjorie F. Budd of Longview, TX.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Doris Budd of Rockville, MD, and six children: Marisha Allen of Longview, TX, Marvin Brent of Los Angeles, CA, Lavelma Valentine of Longview, TX, Jennifer Fletcher of Carthage, TX, William Brent of Dallas, TX, Shannon Brent of Fort Worth, TX. He was also a loving grandfather (Poppy) to 14 grandchildren: Marivious and Malaisha Allen; Maya, Marcus, and Jordyn Brent; Keith, Octavious, Simone Parker and Ashton Valentine; Jasmine and Brayden Brent; Christina, Shannon Jerome Brent Jr., Shaeda Marion and Dominique Brent, ten great-grandchildren. One brother, Wayne Budd of Sykesville, MD. Two Sisters: Carol Springirth of Moorefield, WV. and Erica Budd of Rockville, MD. Many nieces, nephews, and a worldwide brother and sisterhood of friends, including a very special brother in Christ Fred Brown of Longview, TX. and Don Daniels, who preceded him in death in February 2020.
The memorial service will began via zoom at 11:00AM on Saturday January 9th. A slideshow will begin at 10:00AM
