Shirley Oney Obituary

It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that the family of Shirley Gail Seals Oney announces her passing on February 20, 2025, after an extended illness. Born on July 20, 1956, in the community of Marshall, Texas, Shirley's life was a testament to joy and laughter. She breathed her last in the same town that witnessed her first breath, surrounded by family who loved her.
>
> Shirley was a graduate of Marshall High School Class of 1975. Her youthful days and competitive spirit shone through in her love for sports, as she played softball, bowled, and pitched horseshoes. Shirley had a love for Mexican food, a cuisine she often enjoyed in the boisterous company of her family, creating memories over shared meals that would last a lifetime. Shirley was known for her infectious laughter and was always ready with a good joke or pulling a prank.
>
> Shirley's legacy is carried on by her beloved son, Ricky Oney Jr. and wife Melanie, and grandson Ricky 'Trace' Oney III. She was a cherished sister to Donald Seals and wife Sharon, Bridget Griffin and husband Darryl, Manuel Seals and wife Patty, Lillie Van Hecke and husband Shawn, sister-in-law Judy Seals, brother-in-law Don Stewart, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
>
> Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter Lindsay Oney, parents Manuel and Lula Mae Seals, sister Barbara Stewart, brothers Dennis and Stuart Seals.
>
> As we bid farewell to Shirley, we do so with gratitude for the time we had with her. Her memory will be cherished, her stories retold, and her spirit will continue to live on through the love she shared with each of us. Shirley's journey on this earth has concluded, but her impact is everlasting, and she will be dearly missed.
>
> Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 400 South Lafayette Street, Marshall, Texas.
