Steven Michael Torrez, 58, of White Oak, passed away at his home on Sunday February 28, 2021.
Steven was born at Hahn AFB, Germany to Judy Leiste Price and Antonio Torrez on October 4, 1962. He was a graduate of White Oak High School class of 1980. He graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences. He worked as a Career Advisor for the Texas Workforce Commission. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending his free time with friends and family at his close friend’s house which he referred to as “Barberland.” He used his incredible sense of humor to keep the ones around him smiling. His love of outdoors came from spending his childhood summers on the family farm at his grandparents in Minnesota. He also loved the ocean and spending summers taking his family on vacations to Galveston. He will be remembered for his unmatched determination to provide for his family with his extraordinary work ethic. He was long known for his positive outlook on life & his sense of humor. If you asked him what his greatest accomplishments were, he would tell you “raising two strong and independent daughters.” He loved being a dad and “G-pa” to his grandsons. His unconditional giving spirit earned him the utmost respect and admiration from his family, friends, colleagues, and countless individuals whose lives he touched.
Steven is preceded in death by his father Antonio Torrez, grandparents Joe Socorro & Mary Juanita Torrez, Albert & Martha Leiste, and his step-son Rickey Wallace Jr. Steven is survived by his mother & stepfather Judy Leiste Price & Joe (Butch) Price, mother of his children Joy Camp, daughter & son-in-law Toni & Stephen Perry, daughter and son-in-law Kori & Chase Stone, brother & sister-in-law Larry & Lisa Torrez, grandsons Connor & Cohen Perry, nephews Korey Goates, Clint Stephens, and Kaleb Torrez, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins & friends.
Due to Covid restrictions in lieu of funeral services, a celebration of life service will take place at 2pm Sunday March 7, 2021 at his home away from home, “Barberland,” where some of his most precious memories were made. Located at 1795 East Mountain Rd S Longview, TX 75604.
Memorials may be given to Toni Perry or Kori Stone.
