Valita Marie Felts, known affectionately as Marie, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, in Longview, Texas, at the age of 68. Born on March 26, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Nona McNeal and Charles Pool.
Marie was a beloved figure in her community, cherished for her warm spirit and generous nature. She graduated from Leaf River High School in 1975, where she laid the foundations of a life marked by curiosity and a love for the great outdoors. Marie's passion for camping took her on numerous adventures under the stars, creating a tapestry of memories with friends and family alike.
In her later years, Marie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending her days playing triominoes with her friends at Summer Meadows. Her laughter and competitive spirit made her a favorite among the ladies she played with, and her presence at the gaming table will be sorely missed.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Lee Felts, her mother, Nona McNeal, and her father, Charles Pool. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including her daughters, Melissa and her husband Mike Davis, Melanie and her husband Shane Tapia, and her son, Micky Pool, along with his ex partner, Brandi Santiago. Marie was a proud grandmother to Juan Zuniga, Cristina Pool, Lily Doss, Damien Pool, and Kayleigh Pool, and she was overjoyed to have met her great-grandchild, Gabriel Zuniga. She was also loved by her many nieces and nephews.
Her siblings, Dana McDowell, Dale Pool, Frankie McDowell, and Melody Travis, predeceased her. Marie's memory will be cherished by her surviving sisters, Wanda Robertson, Glenda Cooper, Patricia Ricov, and her brothers, Joey Pool and Charles Pool. Each of them will hold on to the countless moments of laughter, wisdom, and care that Marie shared with them.
Marie's life was a tapestry of love and commitment to her family, who stood as the cornerstone of her world. Her unwavering support and dedication to her children and grandchildren were the hallmarks of her character, shaping the lives of those she touched with her kindness and resilience.
